ASSESSMENT
Pharos conducts assessments of individuals, of teams and of organisations. We assess the intercultural competence of individual managers and leaders, examine the levels of trust in teams and conduct organisation-wide surveys to assess the corporate culture, and to determine the effectiveness of global policies and practices.

Individual Assessment
Intercultural Competence We use a combination of assessment tools and our own comprehensive and enlightening interview protocol to assess an individual's intercultural competence and preparedness for working across cultures. We measure a set of attitudes, knowledge and skills that research has shown to constitute intercultural effectiveness. An assessment report highlighting the individual's strengths and development needs, as well as suggestions for their intercultural competence development is prepared. Each individual has the option of receiving confidential personal feedback and coaching. The results can also be integrated into intercultural training programmes for further development. We have begun to use intercultural assessment tools developed by Worldwork (www.worldwork.biz) in our intercultural training programmes with impressive results.
Cross-cultural Adaptability of Employee & Spouse/Partner
We assess employee and his/her spouse's cross-cultural adaptability potential and readiness for expatriate assignments using a battery of tools and assessment interviews. The resulting profile and validation interviews allow the individual and their managers to make informed decisions about particular assignments. The in-depth results enable candidates to recognise their strengths and development needs for adapting to another culture. We use Dr. Kealey's proprietary assessment tool called the "Intercultural Living and Working Inventory," which is based on his decades of research and experience.
Intercultural Self-assessment
Using proprietary self-assessment tools, Pharos enables candidates to privately assess their motivations, readiness and intercultural skills for living and working internationally. Through interviews and online dialogues with Pharos assessors, candidates can develop their readiness for intercultural working.
| Group Assessment
Team Performance Using proprietary tools we assess the functioning of teams, and identify changes in the roles, processes and behaviours that can improve team performance. With multicultural team assessments we add one-to-one interviews with the team leader and members, to understand their cultural expectations and behaviours that impact their teamworking. The findings can be used in teambuilding programmes.
Organisational Culture Audits We conduct organisation-wide assessments that identify the key values and practices of an organisation that give it its core identity. Through this process, we identify an organisation's competitive strengths while highlighting cultural practices that limit collaboration and performance. Results are analysed by any grouping of interest to the organisation (e.g. function, national culture), and used to identify different perspectives on the organisation's culture. These audits are particularly useful for integration of corporate cultures in joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions.
Programme Evaluation We conduct evaluations of the effectiveness of specific programmes across multiple locations and provide country comparisons. By assessing the effectiveness of policies and programmes, such as for Expatriation, or Diversity Development, organisations can improve their cost-effectiveness and increase their benefits to the organisation.
